Transformed by Music and Faith. A Spiritual Encounter with Lenka and Vojtech in Liverpool. Interview by editor Maria Anna Furman.

In one of the quieter districts of Liverpool, far from the bustle of clubs and urban noise, a meeting over coffee took place — a conversation that felt more like a spiritual journey than a traditional interview. The encounter with Lenka and Vojtech – a Slovak husband-and-wife duo creating Christian music – offered a moment of deep reflection on how life can take a completely different path than we had planned.

Although they came to the UK in search of better job opportunities, they found something far more valuable—a new meaning to life. Their story is not spectacular in the cinematic sense, but it is authentic. And it is precisely this authenticity that draws people to them and allows their music to reach the deepest corners of the heart.

Lenka and Vojtech were not searching for God, nor were they looking for a stage or a microphone. They were seeking a roof over their heads, safety for their children, and stability. Yet, over time, their daily routine was filled with something more—a profound spiritual experience that inspired them to create music carrying a message of hope, love, and inner peace.

This meeting was not merely a conversation about music. It became a story of transformation—a story of how the reality of emigration, seemingly full of barriers, can become a space of grace and a new beginning. Lenka and Vojtech shared how chance encounters, working with Poles, and ultimately joining the local Frontline Church led them onto a path they had never known before—a path of deep faith.

Their music was not born from a desire to be heard. It was born from the need to share. It is not an art form driven by trends, but a sincere act of worship. The songs they create blend personal experience, prayer, observation of the world, and spiritual inspiration. They compose and sing together, although Vojtech writes the lyrics and the music, while Lenka brings it to life with her voice – a voice that, as members of their community say, can move even the hardest of hearts.

Poland has played a unique role in their journey. Although they had never visited the neighbouring country before, their first trip to Warsaw, during the THIS IS OUR TIME 2024 conference, became one of their most spiritually groundbreaking moments. The encounter with Poland, its religious atmosphere, community, and hospitality only strengthened their bond with a part of culture they had already begun to explore through Polish-language worship services in Liverpool.

Today, they are active members of the Frontline Church community, where they regularly lead musical worship. In the coming months, they plan to record a music video documenting the life and activities of their community. Their dream, it turns out, is not fame, but transformation. They hope that as many people as possible can experience what they have experienced: spiritual awakening and healing through faith.

Their story shows that Christian music – though often marginalized – holds remarkable power. It is not merely sound. It is a tool for transformation. In their hands, it is authentic, simple, and profoundly moving.

The meeting with Lenka and Vojtech leaves us not with a question about music, but about humanity. Where do we look for hope when everything else fails? And although they didn’t provide a ready answer, one thing is sure – they showed that hope can be found, even when nothing seems to make sense anymore.
