On 6 August 2025, a solemn swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Tadeusz Nawrocki, was held in the Polish Parliament. The event, presided over by the Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, began with the reading of the oath, which the president repeated word for word, pledging loyalty to the Constitution, to safeguard the dignity of the nation, the independence and security of the state, and to regard the good of the homeland as the highest mandate of his office.
After taking the oath, President Nawrocki delivered an extensive inaugural address outlining his political priorities for the next five years. He stressed that he was assuming office despite election propaganda and contempt directed at him, but with an attitude of forgiveness stemming from Christian values. He declared that he would be “the voice of the nation” both for his supporters and for those who did not vote for him and that he would consistently pursue his “Plan 21,” a program endorsed by over ten million voters.
The main points of the program include opposition to illegal migration, maintaining the Polish currency, refraining from raising the retirement age, and supporting major infrastructure projects such as the Central Communication Port, ports, and roads. The president emphasised the need for balanced development, equal treatment of all regions, and investments that stimulate the economy.
In foreign policy, he pledged to defend Poland’s sovereignty within the European Union, to oppose transferring additional powers to the EU, and to seek to strengthen Poland’s position in NATO, particularly on the eastern flank. He referred to strategic alliances, especially with the United States, and expressed a vision of expanding the Bucharest Nine to include Scandinavian countries.

In education and culture, he announced the continuation of the National Reading initiative and strengthening the role of Polish schools in fostering national pride. In the economy, he advocated for major investments and breakthrough projects, stressing the need to move away from Poland’s role as a “subsidiary farm” for the West.
Institutional proposals include convening the Cabinet Council on investment and public finances, creating special presidential councils for seniors, youth, and people with disabilities, as well as a Council for the Restoration of the State System, aimed at developing cross-party solutions. The president emphasised the need to restore the rule of law, criticised violations of the Constitution, and declared that he would promote only those judges who respect the constitutional order.
He stated that he would be the guardian of the current 1997 Constitution, but acknowledged that after nearly three decades, a debate on a new constitution was necessary, with the goal of adopting it in 2030.
The conclusion of his speech carried a historical and symbolic dimension. President Nawrocki referred to the words of Poland’s founding fathers, Roman Dmowski, Józef Piłsudski, Wincenty Witos, Wojciech Korfanty, Ignacy Daszyński, and Ignacy Paderewski, emphasising the duty to serve the nation, defend independence, and stand against those leading Poland toward collapse. His address ended with the words: “May God bless Poland. Long live Poland!”
This ceremony not only marked the beginning of a new presidency but also set an ambitious political, economic, and constitutional course, in which Karol Nawrocki sees his mission as serving the nation above party divisions.
