On November 11, 2024, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Manchester organized a grand celebration of Poland's National Independence Day, bringing many Poles together. This extraordinary event was not only an opportunity to honour Polish independence but also a chance to strengthen the integration of the Polish community in the United Kingdom.
The evening began with the singing of the Polish National Anthem, followed by an address by the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Manchester, Ireneusz Truszkowski. He emphasized the significance of such events in fostering intercultural dialogue and announced future initiatives aimed at strengthening relations between Poles and the local British community.
The highlight of the evening was the exhibition titled "Women – Soldiers of the 2nd Polish Corps." This moving display commemorated Polish women's vital role during World War II. Through their courage and determination, the history of the Polish armed forces gained an unparalleled dimension. The exhibition deeply resonated with guests and served as a starting point for discussions about Polish history and heritage.

The evening's exceptional musical program featured a recital titled "Jewels of Polish Music," performed by renowned artists Magdalena Filipczak (violinist and soprano) and Łukasz Filipczak (pianist). The concert program included pieces by Poland's greatest composers, such as Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Henryk Wieniawski, Fryderyk Chopin, and Karol Szymanowski. The artists, who have performed on some of the world's most prestigious stages, captivated the audience with their virtuosity and profound interpretation of the works.
Throughout the evening, there was also time for conversations and reflections among attendees, who appreciated the high artistic quality of the event and its unique atmosphere. The gathering provided an opportunity to renew bonds within the Polish diaspora and establish new connections.
The National Independence Day in Manchester was not only a reminder of Poland's history but also an inspiration to further strengthen intercultural ties. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the organizers for creating a space that bridges the past and the present while building connections between nations.
