Homage to the Heroes: Unveiling of the Polish Armed Forces Plaque in Manchester

On Friday, May 3, 2024, a palpable reverence filled Manchester's historic Plac Świętego Piotra. Gathered on this particular day, commemorating Constitution Day on May 3rd, was a diverse group of individuals united in paying homage to the Polish Armed Forces, who sacrificed so much during the years of World War II.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Diane Hawkins, expressed gratitude for the unwavering courage of Polish heroes and emphasized the historical significance of the unveiled plaque that day. The Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Manchester, Michał Mazurek, spoke about the sacrifices made by Polish soldiers on various fronts of World War II, highlighting the Battle of Monte Cassino as a testament to their bravery. He underscored the lasting legacy of the Polish diaspora in Manchester, whose resilience and contributions have left an indelible mark over time.
