Wioletta grew up in a small town in Poland. As a young girl, she was involved in scouting activities and collaborated with the local fire station. Then, a spark ignited in her heart—a passion for service, helping others, and fire safety. Unfortunately, as she recalls, at that time, opportunities for women to grow in the fire service in Poland were minimal.
But instead of giving up, she chose a completely different path.
At age 20, she set off into the unknown, with basic English and great faith.
She moved to the United Kingdom, hoping for a better future, knowing only the basics of the English language. She worked in hotels and restaurants, often starting her day before dawn and finishing late at night. But deep down, she never gave up on her dream.
She excelled in science-related subjects and decided to try something more significant. When she happened to come across the University of Central Lancashire Fire Engineering course, she didn’t hesitate—she applied and was accepted.
That was a turning point.
Fire engineering and a new beginning
In 2015, after three years of intensive technical vocabulary learning in a foreign language, Wioletta graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Fire Engineering. At that time, she was 27 and decided to focus on her family, putting her professional ambitions on hold for a few years to raise her children.
But life tends to reward those who are patient and don’t give up on their dreams.
In 2023, when her youngest child started school, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service opened recruitment for the Building Safety Regulator team. Wioletta not only fit the requirements perfectly—she was practically made for this role.
Today she is a guardian of safety, protecting thousands of people.
Since May 2023, Wioletta has worked as a Fire Safety Officer and Building Safety Regulator. Her work is crucial for the life and health of residents of Liverpool and the entire region. She carries out inspections of commercial, residential, and industrial buildings, checking compliance with regulations, identifying risks, providing recommendations, and ensuring that high-rise buildings meet strict fire safety standards.
People’s safety lies in her hands.
Her work on so-called Safety Case Reports is especially important. These reports are for buildings over 18 meters in height, where the key is to anticipate risks before a tragedy occurs.
She says, "Working in the fire service is not just a job for me – it’s a way of life.”
Wioletta wears her uniform with pride, participates in community events, educates, and inspires. Her personality—full of energy, passion, and authenticity—draws people in. While many are often surprised by her strong European accent and blonde curls, it is exactly that contrast that has become her trademark. It’s her brand.
Strength, courage, knowledge – a woman who breaks patterns
When asked what qualities are key in her profession, she answers without hesitation:
* technical knowledge,
* attention to detail,
* quick decision-making,
* problem-solving.
But what truly makes a difference is her story. It shows women—especially young ones searching for their path—that you can start from scratch and go far.
In her message to other women, she emphasizes:
Step out of your comfort zone – that’s where growth happens.
Be financially independent – have control over your future.
Believe in yourself – that’s your strength.
Wioletta Kubicka proves that strength of character, passion, and courage can take you further than the best plan.
Her story touches and motivates—it bridges what seems unreachable with what can be achieved if you don’t give up.
That is why the INSPIRATION STAR 2025 award nomination is not just a token of recognition – it is also a call to the world to notice those quiet heroes who impact reality daily.
Perhaps, thanks to women like Wioletta, more girls in Poland, the United Kingdom, and around the world will believe that they can be whoever they want to be.
All it takes is the will and action.
